The Jute Hub & Ngadjuri Arts: A Journey of Collaboration, Culture and Sustainability
In October 2025, at a community event celebrating culture, creativity, and connection, a chance meeting laid the foundation for a meaningful partnership.
It was there that Sandhya Seshadri, founder of The Jute Hub, met Mel Agius, Aboriginal artist and founder of Ngadjuri Arts. What began as a conversation about art, heritage, and sustainability quickly revealed a shared vision: to create products that tell authentic stories while making a positive impact on communities and the environment.
The Jute Hub was established with a commitment to sustainable living through ethically sourced jute products that support traditional artisans and environmentally responsible production. Mel's work through Ngadjuri Arts is deeply rooted in storytelling, culture, and connection to Country, bringing Aboriginal perspectives and artistic expression to contemporary audiences.
Recognising the natural alignment between their values, Sandhya and Mel began exploring ways to bring their worlds together. Their collaboration combines the timeless sustainability of natural jute with Indigenous Australian artwork, creating products that are both purposeful and meaningful.
Each piece produced through this partnership carries more than functionality—it carries a story. A story of cultural exchange, mutual respect, creativity, and shared commitment to supporting ethical trade and celebrating Australia's rich Indigenous heritage.
Today, The Jute Hub and Ngadjuri Arts continue to work together to create collections that honour tradition while embracing innovation. Their partnership demonstrates how businesses from different backgrounds can come together to create products that inspire, educate, and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
What started as a conversation at an event in October 2025 has grown into a journey built on trust, friendship, and a common purpose: to create beautiful products that connect people, culture, and sustainability.
